Search and Rescue Tactical Training Academy

Priority 1 Air Rescue (P1AR) operates two dedicated world-class Search and Rescue – Tactical Training Academies (SART/TAC) located in Mesa Arizona and Bordeaux France which provide a full spectrum of basic to advanced operational mission training solutions for commercial, government, and military customers worldwide. 

The SART/TAC Training Academies employs full-time instructors operating Advanced Aircrew Mission Simulators (AAMS) for SAR/Tactical - Aerial Gunnery/Use of Force, Hoist Procedural Towers (HPT) that are reconfigurable to over 20 different types of helicopters and use actual Goodrich and Breeze Eastern Hoists, ALSE Training Area, Fast-Rope / Rappel Tower, Advanced Life Support Synthetic Medical Training Mannequins, and a complete domestic/international array of SAR and Air Ambulance mission equipment.

Simulated Training

P1AR has been providing virtual simulation mission training to our students for over 11 years. The AAMS is reconfigurable to accommodate multiple aircraft types and cabin configurations, to include a single or dual cockpit. The AAMS software utilizes cable physics models that can accurately reproduce spins, pendulums/oscillations, and cable entanglement with emergency shear capability. The AAMS aerial gunnery software utilizes ballistic simulation designs that meet NABK standards while operating the M240, M134, GAU17, and HK417/SR25 weapon systems that can be positioned on any side of the cabin, including the tail ramp for participation of multiple students simultaneously.

Priority 1 Air Rescue provides full spectrum training to operators with students ranging from new learners to instructor/train-trainer level programs and provides 30 different courses related to helicopter SAR, air ambulance, aerial fire-fighting, law enforcement, military missions, border security, NVG/NVIS/FLIR, electrical utility, windfarm, CRM/HF, and aircraft transition training. Classrooms are equipped with cutting edge instructional technology and training aids to include wireless interactive smart boards, student configured iPads, and a self-study computer lab room with access to eLearning and computer based training.
